More FAQs: Do I want to become the next Ernest Angley?

with-site-meter.html

My PhD work is ready to be sent to Wales and so I have some free time.

All prayers for me are appreciated!

Here are some more hypothetical FAQs. Please see previous posting.

Question: Do I want to be the next Ernest Angley? From Dad.

No, I do not. I am interested in academic philosophical theology and practical theology, and not televangelism. Besides, I do not think I could willingly wear a rug that looks like his hairdo. What would be worse, the Bob Ross afro, or the Ernest Angley ‘holy healin’ rug? Reverend Angley is looking older and within my satire and theology blog comments in the past my good friend Chucky has suggested that Angley point his hand at himself and yell ‘Be healed’!

Is there a demon of the crumpled face?

Question: Can you recommend reading on the problem of evil?

Sure, there is this blog of course and here are thirteen varied sources on theodicy/the problem of evil and the related subject of free will and determinism.

Question: You seem very intense with blogging; what is your philosophy of blogging?

I have written on this issue previously. I have had struggles with sleep apnea my entire life and it was only diagnosed in 2004. I have been fatigued and unable to work as a part-time professor somewhere and work on very difficult MPhil and PhD theses at the same time. As well, I am not a preacher or pastor and have no calling in that area. Blogging allows me to provide a form of ministry to persons within and outside of the Church and provides me with public exposure. Additionally, the work I have done blogging has greatly contributed to my academic knowledge, despite the fact I have almost four degrees. Make no mistake, even the research and discussions that take place on satire and theology significantly assist me in my learning and knowledge. I hope and pray I grow closer to God through learning.

I am intense in working with these blogs, but I fully realize that the success of thekingpin68 and satire and theology is not primarily measured by traffic, links, readers, and comments; but the blogs are successful if they are pleasing to God. Lord willing, I will try to grow my blogs, and will continue to comment on other blogs, to support friendly Christian bloggers and those who are kind towards Christianity. I am becoming more busy and I will need to prioritise commenting on certain blogs, and so if you would like me to continue commenting on your blog in the long run, please link with me. Once I am working full-time, God willing, as a professor, most of my thekingpin68 articles will be based on work research, and I will not have near the time to comment on other blogs, or search for new links via BlogRush, Blogger Next Blog and Christian groups on the web.

I will not very likely join a group to link with a blog. I do not ask someone to join a group to link with me, and I do not expect to be asked to join a group to link with someone else. I also will not very likely sign up with a group that has rules on theological matters, or with how many times I post an article. If someone wants to know what my views are please do a search on this blog, or ask me. I am quite traditional and orthodox on Christian essentials. I will tend to shy away from blogs where the blog owner appears to be on an ego trip and is at all dictatorial and controlling on the blog. I want persons to think freely on this blog, and that is how I would like to be treated on other blogs.

Thanks

Russ:)

  1. Your answer to that first question is hilarious. If the professor thing ever gets tiresome, have you considered giving it a shot as a Christian comedian? LOL

  2. I could probably write comedy material. Let us see how I do on the satire blog in the long term.

    Cheers.

That's something I really need to learn to keep in mind. I am frequently bothered when my stats provider tells me I only have 30 visitors a day, of which 20 of those disappear within less than a minute. But I should ignore that. The things I write about are often a reflection of the things i'm learning, and blogging has helped me to better organize my thoughts and to write better in general.

  4. Thanks, Jake.

There are many valuable blogs out there like ours without huge numbers of support. This is a reason why mutual support and networking among Christian and sympathetic bloggers is very important for success.

I have noticed that according to BlogRush, my traffic is double to what Site Meter states it is. I know Site Meter does miss some traffic information.

  5. It's done! Tickled for ya, Russ! From looking over the source list I'd want to suggest delving into, say, some of John W.'s sermons for personal perspective, but you might like it too much...

    Praying for ya!

I will let you know about PhD news in the future. Please feel free to post any John W. material in comments.

  7. hello my dear friend, its been quite a while since youheard from me. I apologize for my delayed response on your comments. Itseemsthat sponsored posts have taken most of mytime and I'mnot really proud of it. Yet I did realize one thing that even though my blog is already monetized, I still have to enhance my creativity on my regular posts so that people would not be dissapointed andthat my blog wouldn't look like a shopping mall haha.

Anyhoo, how is your operation. I hope you are safe and recovering well. I thought of you everyday bt I can't seem to loosen myself abit from my tight sked on and off line.

I'm so proud of you that you already finished your PhD. I am very confident that you will pass this last test since your post are highly commendable and that your wisdom is brighter than the sun itself.

About the last part that you wrote, I agree with you. A blog should really be open minded and should not dictate on others their belief for everyone has their own set of faith system.

Regarding traffic one must really be careful in joining such groups because their philosophies might clash your own. I for one join groups not for traffic but because most of them are my friends and connecting with them is like having a common ground for your friendship.

I myself is sometimes tempted to fall into the traffic schemes but I never took the bitebecause Traffic doens't make a blogger excellent, it is the contents that matters really. And this blog of yours has all it takes to succeed in the contents race.

You truly inspire people Russ and continue your mission here in the blogosphere. I am 100% with you all the way.

My prayers are with you my friend.

PS. That hairdo is really like a rug haha

  8. Hello, Army.

I apologize for my delayed response on your comments.

No problem, and thanks for commenting. The busier I become the less I will comment on other blogs as well.

I see a new surgeon concerning my mandible surgery (third sleep apnea surgery) this month. I will post on how the surgery works out. Thanks.:)

Thanks, and may God lead us both in ministry and life.

Yes, and I will not willingly be dictated to on-line, although I wish to obey God and his commands.

I agree that content is what matters, primarily. And I appreciate your support of my content, and may God guide me. I enjoy interaction with others and I admit that I enjoy success, but God needs to define my success.

You truly inspire people Russ and continue your mission here in the blogosphere. I am 100% with you all the way.

Your blog is one of the largest of my links and you have done well. I appreciate you and your blog. I support you as well, Army.

If that is not a rug, it looks like one.

  9. I avoided "The problem of evil" assignment option in my last, my only (so far) theological module - and took a theological short cut (I am assuming my lecturer won't come here!! haha) and did the assignment on the theological contribution of any one church fathers of specific periods given - I chose Origen -- I really enjoyed doing that paper and I know I was not all stressed up, which I would have been had I done the problem-atic one ;)

Hmm ... I haven't encountered any so far - but I have not been really looking.

the work I have done blogging has greatly contributed to my academic knowledge
Yes, I totally agree - it has helped me achieve quite a lot - gave focus, help gather thoughts, get contribution from others, and quite substantially, thoughts and posts that must be worked out properly so that it maintains a certain kind of quality of thinking and writing (i know, it sounds convoluted, but I'm sure you know what I mean ;)

    Thanks, Pearlie.

I understand your point. Much of the material on this blog is equal to, or just a notch below. my PhD thesis work in philosophical theology content. The work on satire and theology is simplified from this blog generally, but is sometimes as difficult.

  11. hey Russ,
I hear ya loud and clear about being busy and not getting to do much with other bloggers. I am thinking that the Lord used me to blog for a season, and not it seems that season might come to an end. I am praying about it now. Rick b

  12. Thanks, Rick.

I published your comment above and I am sorry commenting would not work for you after more than one attempt. I have had some difficulty publishing on Blogger and WordPress blogs lately and today two Blogger blog owners, including you, told me through email that they had recent difficulty publishing Blogger comments. I have not changed my settings, but my thekingpin68 comments now no longer arrive through my Outlook Express email.

Rick, if the Lord leads you to take a break from your blogs, or delete them, I obviously do not want to oppose that direction. However, please consider my comments.

As you know, unless one is well-known in his/her field of blogging, it takes much work to find links, readers, and commenters. It is a shame that more Christians will not work together through linking and supporting other blogs. Half of my blogging work is commenting on other blogs in order to support my links and promote my blogs, which is very time consuming. God willing, once I have my PhD, and become a professor, publishing articles and books, I should be able to gather more links, readers, and commenters. My links could benefit a little from my growth. I have small/moderate size blogs, which are slowly growing, but there is a progression.

I will email you more privately...

  13. Rick B,

Although I have only glanced at your blog site in the past, I did have it bookmarked for future reference. I would like to encourage you to continue the site, as you have time, because I think it is a valuable resource.

My boss where I work, who is the Design and Graphics Editor, is a Mormon. Just yesterday, oddly enough, I had made a list comparing 8 Mormons whom I have either worked with or been friends with, trying to find common personality traits among them, to see whether the cult attracts a certain type of people (i.e., at least 4 of them have been condescending, strict perfectionists who tend to reprimand or correct others quickly, and are not particularly outgoing; and at least 7 of the 8 come across, on the surface at least, as soft-spoken).

There are still people who think that Mormons are just another Christian denomination (even Joel Osteen apparently believes this).

So, if you decide to continue your blog site, I will try to visit it, maybe leave a comment or two, and I can even send out your link to people in my Address Book. If you desire it, I can even put a link to your blog on my blog site.

    Agreed.

Christian work on the cults is needed.

    Thanks, Jeff.

  15. Based on that pic at the bottom, if Ernest Angley ever needs to switch to a new line of work, he could probably play a Ferengi on a Star Trek episode. It shouldn't be too much extra work for the makeup crew...
