Greg Welty rejects Plantinga’s idea that God cannot create a
world containing moral good and no moral evil,[1]
and raises the objection that God brought Christ into the world as a sinless
human being.[2]
Welty’s point here is that every human being
could have therefore been sinless[3] and the world could
contain good and no evil with significantly free human beings that would not
commit wrong actions.[4]
I have a similar objection to Welty’s.[5] Within my theodicy, I reason that God could
have, if he wished, made significantly free human beings, or human like beings
who would have been perfectly morally good and would not commit wrong actions. God’s choice not to create such beings, in my
mind is not a sign of a lack of power, or moral failure, but rather the use of
his own perfect and significantly free will for good purposes.

Note as well, the angels of God not fallen are deduced to be
significantly free and have not committed wrong actions (Revelation 12).
I reason significantly free beings can made perfect, holy and good gaining knowledge of
good and evil and do not choose evil
and do not require the option to choose evil.
Therefore, fallen humanity as is and the atonement and
resurrection work of Christ as applied to those chosen and elect in Christ is
part of God’s sovereign plans. As is the culminated Kingdom of God with the new
heaven and new earth (Revelation 20-22).

ReplyDeleteTheology? What a waste of time and intellect. Madmen dancing on pinheads discussing the merits of an invisible friend. After all the evil committed by Christians and others of faith, finally we are breaking the bonds that shackle human intellect to the wasteland of faith. kick away your crutches, put aside your lame fictions, stand up and be good. You don't have to follow the path of organised religion. You no longer have to defend the evil it has done for a shallow shell of a god who is vile and inadequate in every conceivable way. Tolerance of intolerance is cowardice. Monotheism must now account for its crimes. When trying to engage in reasonable debate we face a psychosis unable to commit to dialogue but forever quotes from a fictional book written 400 years after the birth of Yeshua. There is little good within the bible and yet still we have to tolerate the intolerable. When will monotheism be brought to trial for crimes against humanity?
Evil? If such a thing exists is the construct of organised religion.

Critical views are often discussed in many articles on both of my blogs.
Does not really add anything to the discussion on free will and determinism and sovereignty.

Far too over-simplistic in my case, as obviously my views are multifaceted and do not belong under any singular organized umbrella.

'1 Corinthians 15:3-7 is widely recognized by New Testament scholars as a statement of belief (creed) that was systematized long before Paul quoted it. If so, it represents the earliest historical account of Jesus’ resurrection, and goes back to the eyewitnesses themselves. Gary Habermas comments on the very early date of this creed, which even skeptical scholars acknowledge.
Do critical scholars agree on the date of this pre-Pauline creed? Even radical scholars like Gerd Lüdemann think that “the elements in the tradition are to be dated to the first two years after the crucifixion . . . no later than three years after the death of Jesus.” Similarly, Michael Goulder contends that Paul’s testimony about the resurrection appearances “goes back at least to what Paul was taught when he was converted, a couple of years after the crucifixion.”
An increasing number of exceptionally influential scholars have very recently concluded that at least the teaching of the resurrection, and perhaps even the specific formulation of the pre-Pauline creedal tradition in 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, dates to AD 30! In other words, there never was a time when the message of Jesus’ resurrection was not an integral part of the earliest apostolic proclamation. No less a scholar than James D. G. Dunn even states regarding this crucial text: “This tradition, we can be entirely confident, was formulated as tradition within months of Jesus’ death.”

Being overly positive means one is risking ignoring potential negatives that could impede success. Reasonable philosophy.
I suppose in some sales and business orientated work a rather positive, although realistic approach is needed. If I was to have taken a positive thinking approach into my academic work, especially UK theses work, I would have been in big trouble.
